Call a Heating Contractor to Make Your Home More Comfortable

Heating ContractorAs a heating contractor, we work with a lot of homeowners that are fed up with how poorly their HVAC system works.  In older homes, this can be especially true since the system may not have been upgraded in a long time or simply never worked well to begin with.  Even more customers call us because their home has baseboard or wallboard heat, and they want to move to central air for convenience.  In both cases, we can help by repairing your current system or installing a new one so that your family can remain comfortable. Some of the common challenges we see with older HVAC systems is uneven heat.  Many families will be sweltering hot in the family room while the bedrooms feel like ice.  Using space heaters and fireplaces to even out the temperature can become a hassle and expensive.  We have known people to carry a space heater around for years, simply because the temperature could never get right in the house. Simply put – this is ridiculous and totally unnecessary.  While your current system may not be functioning properly now, we can fix it so that it does. Some of the common things we will check are:
  • Thermostat.  In a lot of houses, the thermostat is not working correctly, and this is why the system gets confused. Without an accurate reading of what the temperature is, the house will never get to the right temperature.  By simply fixing the thermostat, we can correct a lot of heating challenges.
  • Airflow.  You may have debris or something blocking the airflow, making it more difficult for certain rooms to receive the heat that they need.  As a heating contractor, we can clean your air ducts to ensure that everything is flowing through properly, before trying to fix the unit.
These are simple and easy fixes that will very often solve the problem.  If, however, your system is old, we may need to replace it entirely, and we will present several economic ways to do so.  As a benefit, if you do need to have your system replaced, the new one will likely be far more energy efficient and save you money on your heating or cooling bills.  With modern technology continuing to improve, it is not difficult for a newer system to provide the level of consistent temperature that your family needs in order to stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer. As a heating contractor, we also recommend that you look at other areas of your home that may be causing problems.  For example, older homes tend to have air leaks all over the place.  Areas like windows and doors may not be properly sealed and allowing air to flow in and out, making it that much more difficult to keep the temperature in your home consistent.  Additionally, many older homes were built without insulation, which also poses a challenge.  By approaching the problem holistically, you can make subtle changes to your home that will keep the temperature even and comfortable.
