We can install your tankless water heater.  Being a premier installer, we get many questions. People are interested in the device but have no idea what exactly it does. Here are a few frequently asked questions about a tankless water heater system.

What Is a Tankless Water Heater?

A tankless water heater is exactly what it sounds like a water heater that does not require a tank. A traditional hot water heater typically will have a large amount of water stored within it. This means it is required to heat the water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, whether you use the water or not. With a tankless water heater, we are able to provide a steady flow of hot water for as long as you need it and not waste energy on heating hot water that you do not need and will not use.

How Does a Tankless Water Heater Work?

It is important to understand the fundamental difference between a traditional water heater and a tankless water heater system. With a traditional water heater, it stores a large quantity of water 24/7. When you turn on the faucet, you tap into this water and the water heater is required to ensure that the water is the right temperature. With a tankless water heater, the water is not stored in the tank. Instead, you set the temperature that you require the water to be when it flows through the tankless system. The tankless water heater then heats the water as it is flowing through the tankless water heater and into your faucet. You get exactly the same amount of heating, to the exact degree, as you would with a tank system but without having to store or heat and reheat water.

Will a Tankless Water Heater Save Me Money?

If you are looking to save money in the long run, a tankless water heater will ultimately save you money in terms of your utility bills. However, it is important to note that a tankless water heater costs over twice as much as a standard water heater to purchase and install. That being said, most people do not need to replace that water heater system for many years, and tests have shown that a tankless water heater costs 40 percent less to operate than an electric water heater and roughly 30 percent less than a natural gas water heater. Essentially, what this means is that in the long run, your tankless water heater will save you money on your gas or electricity bill.

Are There Other Benefits to Going Tankless?

One benefit is that a tankless water heater can provide a continuous supply of hot water, while your traditional tank will eventually run out of hot water, especially if you have a number of people needing to shower, clothes and dishes to be washed, and other reasons to use hot water. Another benefit is that tankless water heaters have been shown to have a longer life; you will not need to replace your water heater for many years. In addition to these two reasons, it is also important to note that a tankless water heater takes up significantly less room than your traditional water heater, making that square footage available for your use in other areas.
