We can inspect your HVAC unit to ensure that it is working properly all year long. When you don’t have your HVAC unit inspected, it may not function properly when you need it most. HVAC (heating ventilating and air conditioning) systems are complex units that require critical inspection. The components of your HVAC system supply heating and cooling to your home and can present dangerous health risks if the air being produced is not clean or filtered. HVAC units have standards that must be upheld. Each unit must be placed in a certain area and is expected to produce specified levels of circulated air, either heated or cooled. When we visit your home to perform an inspection, we will inspect each individual unit. Some homes have one, while others have five or more, depending on the amount of square footage. We will also visit the areas in your home that are supposed to be heated or cooled so that we can determine how well each unit is working. This includes the basement, which should be given special attention since it can easily receive unequal heating or cooling. With an HVAC unit, there are many components that apply to both heating and cooling. The thermostat, for instance, applies to both. When we visit for an inspection, we will test the thermostat for accuracy. We will make sure that it turns off and on automatically, as required. Depending on what form of heat you use, whether it is a heat pump, gas, or electric, we will inspect each type as needed. The type of fuel will also be checked. We will check the gas supply piping to make sure it is installed correctly and not leaking. We will inspect the air ducts since they are in charge of supplying and returning air to the system center. Some ducts have sealing issues. This can draw bad air in and leak an excessive amount of good air out into areas that do not need heating or cooling. If your ducts aren’t working correctly, they are wasting electricity and costing you more money. After we ensure that your ducts are operating properly, we will check all the vents. Vents can either block air or allow it to come through easily. We will check the supply and return vents to ensure they have sufficient air flow. In older homes, we will also check for signs of asbestos, which could be harmful to inhabitants. These are just a few of the ways we will inspect your HVAC system. We will look into every component that makes up the system and determine how well conditioned your air is and if there are any issues of efficiency. We will also help discover any hidden problems that could be costing you more money to heat or cool your home. Call or visit our HVAC office to learn more.
